4.0 MFG Tech Stack Engineer & Innovator - Boston

Time is a gift. If you answer YES to a few of the following, don’t waste it on this job post. 🛑

  • 🎅 You need a new job by New Year’s 1/2/2025. (*Instead, enjoy Holidays, Friends, & Family. It'll still be here*) 🎅🎄
  • 🚗 You’re unable to nimbly & routinely be on the ground at manufacturers within a 180-mile radius of Marlborough, MA, 10 to 20% of the time. 🚗
  • ⛓️‍💥 You don’t value personal autonomy, flexibility, or responsibility with authority to achieve it. ⛓️‍💥
  • 🪙 You don’t value group Transparency, Expertise, Authenticity, and Resilience (Integrity in Motion). 🪙
  • 📔 You’re not committed to life-long learning. 📔
  • 🏢 You want a “logo” company to define you, rather than build your own personal brand by solving problems for multiple logos. 🏢
  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑You don’t see value in collaborating with and learning from like-minded individuals. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑
  • 💼 You prefer generalist business 'leaders' over working, fluent practitioners that make it happen on the ground. 💼
  • 🔒 You’d prefer to operate in a larger system, rather than a village where you take care of your “house” first, while watching your teammate's back. 🔒
  • 🧭 You suspect you have a lack of purpose in your career & may not leave a positive mark on the world...but you're OK with it. 🧭

Still here?

Seeking an Engineer Innovator to help transform the next generation of US manufacturers. You’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible with the Manufacturing Tech Stack and do things that have never been seen before.

Our Mission

To enhance personnel well-being and safeguard product quality through transformative manufacturing tech stack solutions that harmonize people and machines.

How We (you) Roll

  1. We never abandon a teammate in need.
  2. We do more with less, with technology as a force multiplier.
  3. We always keep our stats — knowing feedback is the breakfast of champions.
  4. We shatter silos by operating “on the grid,” proactively sharing knowledge with gratitude, giving 1x knowing we’re gaining 10x in return.
  5. We just say no to 'rogue', by solving problems using the system. And if it’s broken, we go to the person who can fix it.
  6. When we miss a commitment, we go back to the person most affected, with intent and an updated plan.
  7. We focus on what works first and from there, innovate iteratively.

What We Value

Transparency, Expertise, Authenticity, and Resilience (Integrity in Motion).

and the resultant fruits of Trust, Cohesiveness, and Success.

What You Bring

  • Working, performance-grade, hands-on software design and development within a relevant area of the Manufacturing Tech Stack BHA Line Card.
  • The ability to commission systems in MFG environments.
  • Bias towards action first, and then communication to thrive in a team environment.
  • The readiness to function as a lead engineer situationally.
  • Can own the results—the wins, the losses, the learnings.
  • Sample Areas: PdM, ML, UNS, OEE, MQTT (L1, L2, L3), PLC, SCADA (HTML 5, 4.0).

A Plus:

4.0 Solutions Mentorship or Relevant Track training.

Comp and Benefits

  • Par value: $140K (+/- 25% based on expertise, impact plus variables spiffs).
  • Comprehensive benefits.
  • If subcontractor, reference the following section.

Subcontractors welcome

We value partnerships with fellow 4.0 service providers who collaborate synchronously during workday, non-moonlighting hours. All relevant criteria above in effect, including being on the ground when it matters most. Send your NDA / Non-solicit agreement along with your 2025 Eco-System provider rates (*i.e., the rates you would expect & execute in a reciprocal relationship from someone like Black Hawk*).

Why Black Hawk Automation?

Because of the things you just say NO to at the beginning.

It’s not for the faint of heart, but if you’re ready to push boundaries, there’s no cap on success.
